From delicate equipment to specialty items and even professional display pieces our custom cut foam inserts keep everything safe during shipping storage and everyday handlining.
Price for this product “prototype” starts at $45.00 and can go up depending on the size and type of foam.

Step 1: Choose the type of foam:
- Charcoal firm foam- The least expensive for light and/or delicate items (50lbs items and under) a couple times of use for shipping purposes. It feels like a couch cushion but firmer. Thickness is offered from 3/16” to 6” thick.
If you do not like the look of charcoal firm foam or your items are 50lbs and heavier and get repeatedly used, then upgrade your foam to:
- Polyethylene- Looks and feels like a kid’s pool noodle and has self-healing features.
- Minicell foam- Looks and feels like a yoga mat. This foam surface is solid and smooth, no open pores like charcoal firm or polyethylene foam.
Both minicell foam and polyethylene foam is offered in 1/8” thick to 4” thick. Anything thicker than 4” thick can be glued to get the height that you require.
Step 2 Contact Us:
For price quote please make sure you include:
- Overall size of box: length x width x thickness.
- Which type of foam? Recommendations can be made. Just let us know what this will be used for.
- How many cut outs and if your items have different depths?
*We do not cut the depths/cavities in one solid piece. All the plugs will have all the same thickness. Then each plug will be taken out, shave to the correct depth and put the plug back in. We can glue it to a solid base if you like. - A drawing layout such as AutoCAD (dxf), hand drawing (paper templets), pdf or photos with measurements can also be provided to reduce the set-up charge. If you have STEP or EPS files, please convert to DXF top view only. The set-up charge is a one-time fee between $45.00 to $125.00 depending on what type of foam and how many cut outs which includes a prototype sample.
Once quote is provided and you are ready to proceed with no dxf or pdf files, then please provide:
Step 3: Drawing Layout
Once you approve the price quote, please place your items on a piece of paper or cardboard and trace exactly how you would like all your items to lay. We also need to know the depth of each item to ensure the correct foam is used for your order.
You can add extra details to your drawings like finger pulls, round corners, or beveled edges. Logos or text can be added to give your case a one-of-a-kind design. Fabric-like vinyl or suede fabric can be glued on the top of the foam if you desire a more finished look.
Step 4: Receiving Template

* Yes, the foam will be and extra charge, depending on the size and thickness of your selection.

Key Information for Accurate Quoting:
- Foam Type: Preferred material (e.g., polyethylene, polyurethane).
- Insert Size: Overall length, width, and thickness. (Usually this is based on the interior dimensions of the case or box the foam will be placed in.)
- Cutouts: Number of cavities/cutouts per layer, including the size of each, if possible.
- Quantity Needed: Total number of inserts or complete units you would like quoted.
- Additional Considerations: Any special material properties (e.g., anti-static, custom tolerances), and photos of items or containers (if available). You’re also welcome to send or drop off sample items and containers for more accurate hands-on assistance.
We accept layouts in PDF, DXF, or DWG formats with dimensions in inches. If CAD files aren’t available, a traced layout on paper or cardboard is acceptable, just be sure to indicate the depth of each cutout. Additional customization options such as finger pulls, rounded corners, or logos are also available upon request.
Keep in mind that our waterjet machine cuts in 2D only, straight through the foam. For inserts requiring varying depths, we can layer or skive the foam as needed.
